One would think that spending an entire day in a car (or almost) going from Whistler to Jasper would be tedious and long. One could never be so very wrong in that assumption. In fact, it was one of my favourite parts of the trip.
This part of the trip was unexpected, we weren’t planning on heading to Jasper, to be honest with you. We had just come from Whistler and I was quite excited to visit the vineyards in Kamloops, but seeing as the weather was dangerous for breathing and therefore physical outdoor activities, we opted to go to Jasper instead.
Midway, we went to Kamloops for lunch, my partner suggested I pick a place to eat. Craving ramen once again, we visited a small shop called Tiger Ramen. Their vegetarian option was remarkable for my partner. I was offered to taste a broth before making my choice of ramen. I highly recommend this quaint restaurant if one is ever in the area. The staff was nothing but friendly and the food, exquisite. (P.S. Look for all the tiger paraphernalia when you’re there!)
On the way to Jasper, we stopped multiple times, witnessing scenery that was difficult to capture on camera… impossible to capture on camera, I dare say. The smells, sights and wildlife were new to us and the view of the Canadian Rockies was something to behold.
In the summer of 2021, BC was plagued with several forest fires. The smell of smoke, of something burnt, permeated almost every one of our stops. We witnessed the remnants of the burnt forests, in awe at what Mother Nature was capable of and of the extent of our human destruction of our environment pushing such things to happen. It was humbling and we did drive several minutes in silence.
