Today, I’ll be trying Pokémon drinks. The idea came from strolling down an East Asian grocery store. I first spotted flavoured Pokémon edible straws. No reader can imagine my excitement when I laid eyes on them. When I spotted the drinks, however, I practically squealed.
My dream of travelling to Japan with my partner was all but shattered when we first got a whiff of our current global situation back in 2020. Visiting markets like J-Town in Toronto (back when it was ok to do!) or trying new exotic snacks or drinks are my safe and socially distanced ways of enjoying travel from home. So, I thought, since I can’t go to a real Pokémon Center in Japan, it was high time to bring the Pokémon Center to me.
So without further ado, here are the flavoured fizzy water drinks…
Cider Flavour Pikachu

You can’t beat OG Pikachu, even when it comes to drink flavours it seems. I couldn’t quite put my finger on the exact taste of cider being experienced by my taste buds, but I was loving it. It was probably a mix of things. My translation app wasn’t of much help either when it came to the ingredients inside the can with things like “acid-depleted water (water, magnetism), edible flavour, white sugar, fructose, hunting acid” being translated.
Orange Flavour Charmeleon

Not one of my favourites due to it tasting like a watered-down Orange Crush. However, if that’s your jam, go for it! It’s a beautiful can to look at and one to enjoy drinking.
White Grape Flavour Snorlax

This drink was quite similar to Grape Crush. Seeing as I don’t particularly enjoy grape-flavoured drinks, I wasn’t partial to this one. On the bright side, we don’t usually see much of Snorlax on Pokémon-themed items, and it was time we saw more of it!
Peach Flavour Jigglypuff

Sadly, this peach-flavoured drink was a disappointing one to me if only in the sense that I had the highest expectation for it. I expected a burst of concentrated flavour, but only got peach-flavoured fizzy water, which admittedly is exactly what the can was advertising. All expectations aside, however, it was a good drink. My partner enjoyed it as well.
Pear Flavour Togepi

I much preferred this drink to several others, even when I normally would have thought that anything peach flavoured would be my go-to. What I’m basing this on is how concentrated the flavour seems. This pear flavour drink is pretty potent in pear flavour.
Apple Flavour Bulbasaur

The Bulbasaur drink was definitely one of my favourites! I felt transported back into childhood, relishing in what I like to call liquid apple candy.
Ok, now the question worth 1 million dollars is: where can you get your hands on some of these Pokémon drinks?
Look no further than Marché Hawaï on boulevard Pie-IX in Montreal. This post is sadly not sponsored, but if Marché Hawaï is looking for representatives, I’m all ears! What snacks should I try next? Let me know in the comment section below!
