INITIAL BUBBLES
I discovered the Rose Gold Shimmer Bath Bomb by Pearl Bath Bombs when my friend suggested I take a peek at it. She remembered seeing it on a television show and recommended I give it a look. Opening the Pearl Bath Bomb website, I noticed the prices were quite steep (and, in American). I patiently waited until Black Friday and watched the prices, guessing that as an American company they would probably have good deals. Come Black Friday, the prices were lowered: I was right. I bought several bath bombs that I found interesting.
FUN FACT ABOUT MORGANITES
Morganite is a gem that has increased in popularity over the years. It pairs nicely with rose-gold jewelry due to its warm pink/orange-ish colours. The morganite was discovered in Madagascar and was named after a prominent American banker and financier, J.P. Morgan. Morganites come in three types: natural (naturally occurring in the earth), synthetic (lab-grown stones) and imitation (cheaper morganite look-a-likes made from other materials). Morganites get their colour from manganese and are usually heat treated to get a purer pink colour.
THE ROSE GOLD SHIMMER BATH
I expected sparkles. I wanted sparkles and I was about to get sparkles. Taking a look at the bath bomb, I remarked that the shipping and handling process seemed to have eroded pieces of the bath bomb.
Instant fizz came when the bath bomb was submerged in water. Baby pink and rose gold foam permeated the tub. The disintegration was very quick and a golden layer had started to settle on the surface of the water.
As suddenly as the bath bomb had started to dissolve, the gift was unveiled nestled in the bath bomb’s core. Just when I thought the fizzing was over, it was not! The bubbles went on for a few moments more and then… silence. My bath was ready.
One thing I did notice with this bath bomb is that it left a ring of pink where the water level was situated. I will definitely have to write about my go-to’s for bath cleaning products when it comes to removing bath bomb grime. Stay tuned for that!
A rose gold film, with pieces of pink, floated about my bath. A scent of strawberries wafted from the bath making me ready to be submerged in fruit. In I went, happy to experience this warm concoction.
THE SURPRISE IN THE BATH BOMB
Inside the bath bomb was a surprise! As with most of the Pearl Bath Bombs, there is a piece of jewelry on the inside. I had picked my ring size when I ordered it and it was time to see what had come afloat. A teardrop-shaped morganite rose-gold ring was encased in a plastic alcove that came with a code. The code yielded 100 pearl points, to be used towards an eventual purchase. The Pearl Bath Bomb mentions that the rings in these bath bombs are “18k Rose-Gold plated synthetic Morganite Ring valued $35-$40 USD”.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Scent: strawberry/berry-like scent; (the website mentions a scent of “Sparkling Peach, Rose & Musk”);
Opacity: pretty opaque; you can barely see the bottom of the bathtub;
Final colour: extremely pale baby pink with a blanket of gold on the surface;
Verdict: This was the first bath bomb I tried with a “surprise” inside, so I can’t compare it to other bath bombs of its kind. When it comes to the bath-bomb-fanfare, it’s not as intense as other bath bombs, but if you’re looking for a romantic vibe to your bath, this could well be it! Do note though, the regular price of 17,95$ USD could be quite steep, for a single bath bomb.
